Winter break

January 14, 2017

School starts back up this week. Breaks are always more stressful and hectic than teaching it seems. Below are new works from the past two weeks in the studio. I will be taking a break from the studio to get back into the swing of teaching / studio practice that isn't making the work.

9"x30". Thinking about skateboards and how to create works specific for a skateboard.

About 11"x14". This was made using pieces of paper that were masking other pieces during their creation. The idea of collage has been in my mind as of late and with this piece I will be playing with this way of making more.

Last week I was able to get into the studio for the first extended period in quite a while. Below are some of the new pieces. Next week I will be back in the studio making for 2 weeks. I have plans for new works I will be sharing shortly.

Earlier this week I was able to have a studio visit with Amanda Hunt, Associate Curator of The Studio Museum in Harlem though Moca Cleveland's visiting curator program.

Lake week went on a trip to Chicago and was able to see many great pieces including the amazing Maholy Nagy show at the Chiago Art Institute. Besides that just been making work in the studio and planning out pieces for an upcoming show.
